If you took an extended summer vacation, you might have missed Patty Penske’s garden party in celebration of her birthday and the launch of the Escada Kids Wear collection. But don’t worry; we were in Brentwood to get the scoop for you.
Rain threatened all morning, and a gray sky loomed overhead as the pink and white linens were laid backyard picnic tables at the Brentwood home of birthday girl and hostess Patty Penske. But as the poolside jazz ensemble struck a chord, welcoming the first guests to the luncheon, the clouds parted, turning the glum afternoon into a fairy-tale brunch. It was a power picnic for mothers and daughters to shop together and welcome the Escada Kids Wear collection.
Adult guests browsed the new threads, which were display hanging from a clothesline, as well as the women’s ready-to-wear racks that surrounded the beach-ball-filled pool. The children indulged their creative side-and their sweet tooth-at the cupcake and cookie-decorating table. The event’s proverbial icing on the cake came as Good Food Catering brought out a coconut-iced birthday torte and delivered it to Penske, who was “happy to be surrounded by friends”.
