But the dream of the Factor brothers was to create a studio that, ultimately, offered a level of service - the business watchword of the era - like no other. To that end they enlisted the aid of Phillip Weingarten, who designed the studios creature comforts and initially managed the place. "We cater to photographers in ways they don't dream of," he says. And he means that literally. He currently mans SmashBox's kitchen, where he makes bread, among other delicacies, for clients. "During a shoot everyone hands out around the kitchen," says Weingarten.
